Registration and change of healthcare centre

Heilsugæslan is the first port of call for those who need health care.

If an individual is not registered at a health care centre, he/she is automatically registered at the centre closest to his/her legal residence. The registration can be changed to another health care centre.

For the first 6 weeks after birth, children are registered at the nearest station of legal residence where they undergo infant health care. After this time, the guardians may change their registration. Children may be registered at a health clinic other than the guardians if this is more appropriate due to the protection of infants.

  • In order to change your registration to a healthcare centre go to My pages on Iceland Health website, My pages manages and publishes your information and rights with Iceland Health.

  • Under Health - Health center you can see the healthcare centre you are registered on, as well as changing your centre registration.

  • The most suitable primary health centre is chosen and confirmed. The amendment shall take effect on the following working day. There can only be a single location registered at any given time. As soon as the registration is changed, the previous registration is cancelled.

In order to apply for a change in healthcare, it is also acceptable that health data concerning you are transferred to a new primary healthcare centre.

View registration on My Pages.
