Can you apply for a grant to purchase orthopaedic shoes?
Yes, you can apply for a grant in cases of severe leg deformity. Advanced orthopaedic shoes, custom semi-synthetic orthopaedic shoes and custom shoes are approved depending on the severity of foot deformities and are evaluated by qualified orthopaedic shoemakers and/or prosthetists as to the type of shoe equipment needed.
Generally, one pair per year is approved, but two pairs per year are for growing children and active individuals.
Payment participation is 90%, with a maximum of 47,000 ISK for ready-made orthopaedic shoes, 99,000 ISK for semi-custom shoes and 210,000 ISK for custom-made shoes.
