Directorate of Immigration: Travel and visits to Iceland

How do I apply for a long-term visa?

You need to fill in an application for long-term visa and submit it in paper form to the Directorate of Immigration.

The application can be delivered to a drop box in the lobby of the Directorate of Immigration at Dalvegur 18 in 201 Kópavogur or be sent by regular mail to the same address. Before that is done, it is necessary to pay the processing fee by bank transfer and attach the payment receipt to the application for confirmation. Unpaid applications will be returned to the applicant.

Information on requirements and supporting documents is available on the site Long-term visa.

Application deadline

It is important that you apply for a long-term visa in good time. If you are visa-obliged you should apply at least 14 days before your current visa expires. If you are visa-exempt you should apply at least 14 days before your 90 visa free days in the Schengen area are up.
