Directorate of Immigration: Travel and visits to Iceland
How can I be in Iceland for more than 90 days?
A long term visa permits a stay for up to 90 days in addition to the days you are permitted to stay in Iceland as a tourist. You can apply for a long-term visa if you are staying legally in Iceland at the time of your application and if you do not intend to settle in Iceland.
If you meet the requirements for a residence permit, you will most likely be refused a long-term visa. In such cases it is better to apply for a residence permit.
