Administration of Occupational Safety and Health: Written health and safety plan
How do I make a written plan for safety and health in the workplace?
All employers are responsible for preparing a health and safety plan for the workplace, regardless of the its size. Its main aspects are a risk assessment and a health protection and risk prevention plan.
First, hazards in the work environment must be identified and assessed, and a written risk assessment must be created that outlines the specific risks present in the workplace. The employer must systematically review all tasks carried out there and the work environment. It is advisable to consider the five main aspects of occupational safety and health, as well as any specific risks, if applicable. It is recommended to consult with employees, as they are familiar with their jobs and can offer valuable ideas for reducing the impact of risks.
Next, a timed plan for health protection and risk prevention should be prepared. This is a written plan describing how to eliminate the risks. If they cannot be eliminated, the plan must state how to reduce them as much as possible.
