Administration of Occupational Safety and Health: Work protection
Fall at work
Everyone in the workplace must be aware of the risk of falls in the work environment.
This includes both falls on the same level—such as slipping on ice, sliding on a wet floor, or tripping over cords and tools on the floor—and falls from height, such as from scaffolding, ladders or platforms.
A fall at work, whether on the same level or from height, can cause serious injury.
Approximately 25 percent of reported workplace accidents in Iceland are due to falls on the same level, making it one of the most common types of workplace accidents reported to the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health.
Here you can find educational material and preventive guidance related to working at height, recommendations on the use of fall protection equipment, conducting risk assessments, and more.
