The Climate and Energy Fund regularly advertises grants for projects that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions under Iceland’s direct responsibility, or involve innovation and the implementation of new technologies in the fields of environment, energy, and climate.

In the spring of 2025 a general call for applications includes the focus areas:

  • Energy transition in transportation

  • Energy transition in operations or energy savings

  • The circular economy

  • Implementation of new technologies or innovation

Total available funding is ISK 1.3 billion, of which up to ISK 300 million will be allocated to projects involving the implementation of new technologies or innovation in climate-related areas.

Who can apply?

Individuals, companies and government agencies can apply for grants.

How to apply

Submissions are made through the Energy Fund online application portal.

Priority will be given to projects that depend on the fund’s financial support in order to be realized. Grant applications are processed in accordance with Regulation No. 1566/2024 on the Climate and Energy Fund.
