Children's Culture Fund project grant

Closed for applications / Deadline was 04. April 2025

  • Varied projects and activities in areas of children's culture, with an emphasis on creativity, art and active participation of children in cultural life.

  • Special consideration is given to projects which in addition to the above also support democratic participation in the community, or in another way support the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child.

  • Cooperative projects will also be evaluated, for instance between cultural institutions, schools, artists and community groups. In particular, encouragement is given to cooperative projects between parties working in different spheres, for instance institutions seeking to work with grassroots artists rather than other institutions.

  • Projects are not limited to taking place within a single calendar year.

  • In grant distribution emphasis is given to fresh ideas.

What is not covered:

  • Grants are not awarded for basic activities or the everyday operation of agencies or cooperatives.

  • Equipment purchases or improvements to work areas, for instance housing, are not covered.

  • Grants for specific travel are not awarded.

  • Projects which clearly better align with project funds for particular art forms, or the salary funds for artists, as the Children's Culture Fund is a temporary action to strengthen children's culture, and is not intended to take over other funds' responsibilities to support projects related to children's culture.

Who can apply?

Artists, agencies, cooperative groups and other legal entities that work with children's culture in some way.

How to apply

Submissions are made through the Rannís online application portal, see instructions. Only applications and files submitted in this way are considered.

  • In the application form, there should be a detailed description of the project's participants, the work itself, and a cost estimate (see instructions below). If the applicant is an individual, information about his or her career, professional and artistic background is required.

  • In the project plan all of its aspects should be described, for instance practices, events, or whatever the project entails. There should be a timeline showing when each phase of the work should take place.

  • Submissions may only be made through the Rannís online application portal (see instructions).

  • Applications and files submitted after the grant deadline has passed are invalid and not taken into consideration by the fund.

  • See more about application evaluation here.

More information about the Rannís application portal and evaluation of submissions can be found on the fund's information page.
