Export Licences and Restrictions

The export of goods from Iceland is generally unrestricted. However, certain goods require a licence or are subject to specific restrictions. Before submitting an export declaration, you should check whether your goods fall within a category that requires authorisation.

It is the exporter's responsibility to determine whether a licence is required. Iceland Revenue and Customs may stop a shipment that is not accompanied by the necessary permits.

Trade Sanctions and Restrictive Measures

In some cases, international trade sanctions or restrictive measures may affect who you are permitted to do business with and where goods may be exported. As rules and restrictions can change rapidly, it is important to check the current requirements before importing or exporting goods.

See current trade sanctions and restrictive measures on the website of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
