The prerequisite is that the political party has been allocated a letter for candidacy from the Ministry of Justice.
If a candidacy is a registered company, and has its own ID number, only those who have power of attorney for the company can create an endorsement collection.
If an individual is registered for a candidacy that individual is automatically responsible for the endorsement collection.
A person with a power of attorney for an endorsement collection can login to island.is and open „Access control“ to give another person permission to be a supervisor for the endorsement collections.
Examples of functionality available: View endorsement collection progress, add endorsements collected on paper.
The political parties now have access to a functionality in the endorsement system, through My Pages on island.is, to enter the ID of the individual that has endorsed on paper.
It is recommended that parties enter the ID numbers that are collected on paper on a regular basis into the system, as the system confirms the correctness of the endorsements. Thus, the parties can see a more correct status of the number of endorsements that have been collected.
Please note that parties must submit original copies of the recommendation collections on paper to the National Electoral Commission when submitting their candidacies.
The ID number of the endorser is being entered in a constituency in which he is not authorized to endorse candidacy.
