All food and beverages for the home, including candy, coffee, tea, soft drinks and juices.
Cleaning products and cleaning equipment.
Cleaning and beauty products such as soaps, shampoos, skin products and cosmetics.
Restaurant and café visits and costs for canteens.
Household equipment such as furniture, textiles, tableware and living utensils.
Other personal items such as bags, baby chairs and nurseries.
Clothes for everyday and occasion use, dry cleaning, clothing rental and clothing repair.
Shoes for all seasons and shoe repair.
Medicines, vitamins, glasses, hearing aids, prosthetics and their accessories.
Services of general practitioners, specialists, dentists, hospitalization, physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
In this expenditure category, UMS targets 75% of the Ministry's criteria.
Costs for music and video content, such as subscriptions to content providers.
Larger devices for leisure, such as:
leisure products, sporting goods and lotteries
newspapers, books and stationery
package tours
alcohol and tobacco
jewelry, watches and clocks
gifts
All costs for mobile phone, internet, internet router and video key.
There is one price for an individual and another price for a couple or people living together, regardless of the number of children.
UMS aims at the lowest possible costs for telecommunications companies that dominate the market.
Other services for the home, such as financial services, home services, hairdressing, salon services and more.
Electronics, household appliances and their maintenance such as refrigerators, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, coffee machines, televisions, audio equipment and computers.
Costs of operating a vehicle, such as:
spare parts, repairs, tires and cleaning agents,
gasoline,
vehicle inspection and insurance.
Not capital costs.
When calculating the operating costs of cars, we rely on the expenditure research of Statistics Iceland, the calculations of the Association of Icelandic Car Owners, information from car dealerships about the consumption and emissions of various car types and information from insurance companies about insurance fees.
Bus card for each family member over 2.
The monthly price of bus cards takes into account that a 3 month card is purchased. Where there is no bus transport, it is assumed that the increased cost of operating a car will be equivalent to the cost of the bus cards.
Other travel expenses for taxis and bus fares, air fares and ferry fares.
For other expenses, UMS does not use criteria, but takes into account the actual expenses of each family. This applies to, for example:
