Pressure equipment
3 pairs of pressure socks are approved over a 12 month period, the minimum pressure shall be 18 mmHg. In general, 2 pressure sleeves are approved over a 12 month period.
Pressure sockets/pressure equipment are facilitated for:
Burning
Chronic severe venous/vascular problems
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
In general, the concentration is 70% for children, 90% for children and 100% for burns.
Co-payment for synthetic pressure socks is ISK 11,600 based on 100% co-payment, but a different percentage of that amount (90% ISK 10,450 and 70% ISK 8,150).
Custom sewn pressure socks are approved in cases of significant physical abnormalities due to disease, structural or accidental conditions and I stage of suction vessel oedema. The strength of such socks is double compared to custom pressure socks.
Custom sewn flat seam pressure socks are approved for users with confirmed lymphedema (lymphoedema) stage II-III and diagnosis must be confirmed by a vascular surgeon following examinations. The strength of such socks is based on cost estimation at each time.
