Car markings and tinting of windows and lights

Car markings

It is allowed to mark cars and change their color without special restrictions as long as there is no reflective material in the markings.

Keep in mind that if the markings change the color of the vehicle from what is registered in the vehicle registry, it must be taken for a modification inspection at a vehicle inspection station and the new color must be registered. This may be the case when the whole car is marked or wrapped in such way that the previously recorded color is no longer applicable.

Reflective markings

Reflective markings are only allowed on:

  • Police vehicles (yellow and blue)

  • Fire department vehicles (yellow and red)

  • Ambulance vehicles (yellow and green)

  • Rescue team vehicles (yellow and orange)

  • Trucks, vans, and buses (multicolored graphics on the sides with faint approved reflectivity within an approved outline)

Window tinting

In traffic, communication between road users can be very important. For this reason, it must be possible to see the driver through the front window and the front side window. Therefore, it is not allowed to tint or film the driver's side windows or the windshield. It is only allowed to tint or film windows that are behind the driver, whether they are side windows or rear windows. This applies to all cars regardless of age.

Some cars are manufactured with smoke-colored windscreens or front side windows. In those cases these windows are approved as such and with an approval marking.

No exemptions are granted from the ban on tinting the windshield or front side windows, neither for medical reasons nor for other reasons.

Coloring of lights

All coloring of lights and films that reduces the intensity of light or changes its color is prohibited.

Reflectors, whether built into the light glass or separate, must never be tinted or filmed.
