Lífsbrú – Centre for Suicide Prevention at the Directorate of Health has published new guidelines on responsible media coverage of suicide. These recommendations are based on a handbook from the World Health Organisation, which was translated and adapted by Lífsbrú – Centre for Suicide Prevention. The project involved extensive collaboration with the media, the country's leading experts in suicide prevention, and individuals with personal experiences of loss due to suicide.
We are pleased to announce that the book Search for the Money, a guide to financial independence has now been published. The book is a follow-up to the podcast Search for the Money produced by Kolbeinn Marteinsson for the Debtors’ Ombudsman, Gunnar Dofri Ólafsson, who supervised the show and are also the authors of the book. The Icelandic parliament, Althingi, has approved a bill on a single payment to pensioners who earn 25 thousand ISK or less per month from sources other than TR. There are about 2,000 individuals who may be eligible for this payment.
