The Chief Epidemiologist’s respiratory infections dashboard has been updated with data for week 47 of 2025 (November 17–23, 2025).

The Chief Epidemiologist was notified yesterday of a confirmed case of measles in a young child who arrived home from abroad on Monday, January 5th.

Following an announcement by the Directorate of Health on 8 January that measles had been diagnosed in a child in Iceland, the Chief Epidemiologist wishes to provide the public with further information on the current situation, risks, and vaccination.

The Icelandic parliament, Althingi, has approved a bill on a single payment to incapacity and rehabilitation pensioners in the amount of ISK 70,364. The single payment will be granted to pensioners who are entitled to receive incapacity or rehabilitation pension in 2024.
