Akureyri Hospital (SAk) has implemented a new digital medication prescribing system for cancer treatments, known as the Cato system, which significantly improves the safety and efficiency of treatment for patients receiving chemotherapy. The system was first adopted at Landspítali (the National University Hospital of Iceland) at the end of 2022 and has now been introduced at SAk.
At the 2025 annual meeting of Akureyri Hospital, Björn Gunnarsson, specialist physician and Clinical Director of Quality and Safety, gave a presentation on developments in quality and patient safety. Holiday and December supplements for disability pension, partial disability pension and medical- and rehabilitation allowance have been calculated and the payment plans for individuals entitled to these payments have been updated on My Pages. The holiday supplements will be paid on 1 July and the December supplement on 1 December.
