The balloon scanner provided by the Women’s Association of Heimaey to the hospital department of HSU in Eyjafjöll was officially delivered this weekend.
The paper scanner is called the Bladderscan i10 from Verathon. Its main advantages are that it adapts to all body types (including children) and is the most accurate today. It is punch-resistant and can be linked directly to the individual's medical records. The value of the donation is ISK 2,650,064 with a cheque.
We at the Faculty of Medicine would like to express our deepest appreciation to the Women’s Association of Heimaey for this generous gift, which will be useful and will last us well and for a long time.

The Westman Islands Department of Health also received a gift this weekend in memory of Gunnar K Gunnarsson, former director of the Westman Islands Health Institute (before it merged with the South Iceland Health Institute).
The gift is an electric table and strongly built chairs with wheels worth ISK 551,536. This will be extremely useful in the department's daily work and improve the facilities and well-being of our clients for the future.
The staff and clients of the Westman Islands hospital department would like to extend their sincere thanks to Sigrún Inga Sigurgeirsdóttir, Gunnar’s surviving wife and her family for their generous gift.
