According to regulations, the Directorate of Fisheries will increase the number of days for vessels that are still fishing or have yet to go lumpfish fishing.

The Marine Research Institute has sent the Icelandic National Planning Agency, in accordance with Article 4a of the Law on Aquaculture, its proposal for the demarcation of farming areas for aquaculture in Arnarfjörður. This is the first proposal for farming areas that is prepared on the basis of this legal provision. The Marine Research Institute’s decision on farming areas is a prerequisite for the Minister of Fisheries to be able to allocate areas for aquaculture in the sea.

An outbreak of shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) has affected ten children at Mánagarður preschool in Vesturbær, Reykjavík.

About 270 damage claims have been received in Grindavík, of which 65 claims have been received in the last 7 days. 140 claims have been inspected already and it is expected that around 120 inspections will take place this week. There are still a few cases where an inspection cannot be arranged due to absence of owners or other reasons. Most of the reported damages are related to house property, but there are 28 reports of damage to furniture or other items.

For the given reason, the Directorate of Fisheries would like to point out that Pollurinn near Akureyri is in the Eyjafjardar estuary area.
