This year's Great Forest Day will take place on Saturday, June 21st and will begin with a logging competition and games for children at noon, while the formal program will commence at 1 p.m. in Mörkin.

The Icelandic Biology Conference, the main event organised by the Icelandic Biological Society, took place at the University of Iceland from 9 to 11 October. Held every other year, the conference is a lively celebration of new scientific research in Iceland. Staff from Land and Forest Iceland were active participants and made a strong contribution to the programme.

Increase in Minimum Payments for Parental Leave and Bereavement Leave

The Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority has submitted Iceland's report on nuclear safety to the 10th Review Meeting of the Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS), which will be held at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna from 13 to 24 April 2026. The Convention entered into force on 24 October 1996, and Iceland became a full party to it in the autumn of 2008. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority compiles a report every three years on how Iceland meets the requirements of the Convention.

Vehicle owners who had not registered their vehicle’s mileage by 1 April were charged a late registration fee. The fee will be cancelled if the vehicle is taken to an inspection station before the end of April.
