The Biskupstungur Highland Pasture Tunguheiði land reclamation project concluded April 1st, with Land and Forest Iceland formally returning the land to its owners following approximately 25 years of remediation. A memo delivered at the occasion documents the project's activities and results.

The Nordic data protection authorities met at their annual meeting on 21-22 May.

Today, a report was published with the results of Nordic monitoring of diet, physical activity, and physique among adults and children aged 7-12, as well as alcohol and tobacco use among adults.

At the annual general meeting of the Social Insurance Administration (TR), held today, it was announced that 85,842 individuals received an allowance from TR in 2025. This is a 2.5% year-on-year increase in the number of individuals, reflecting both demographic trends in society and an increased demand for support, particularly for medical and rehabilitation allowances. TR's total allowance payments amounted to nearly ISK 250 billion during the year. This is stated, among other things, in TR's annual report for 2025.5

The annual recalculation of pension payments from TR for the year 2024 is now available on TR's My Pages. A settlement for about 69,000 individuals is published today.

RAI assessment is used to assess the quality of care and the needs of residents in nursing homes (Real Resident Accommodation). This assessment is carried out three times a year and is intended to assess the health and care needs of residents based on the results of 20 quality indicators. It must be kept in mind that quality indicators are indicators of how treatment and care are provided in nursing homes and not absolute truths.

March 24 is World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, commemorating the day in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of the cause of TB - the Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacterium.
