A vehicle owner can register a keeper, add one, or remove one electronically. Keepers are not required to be 18 years of age or older.
Roles and responsibilities of a keeper
A keeper is the party who has the vehicle in their possession but is not the registered owner. The owner is responsible for paying the road tax and kilometre fee.
Process
The owner completes the notification and pays the registration fee.
If a keeper is being added, they must sign the notification electronically. A signature is not required when a keeper is being removed.
The keeper registration is then updated in the vehicle registry.
A prerequisite for registering a keeper is that all public charges have been paid.
