A vehicle owner can register a keeper, add one, or remove one electronically. Keepers are not required to be 18 years of age or older.
Roles and responsibilities of a keeper
A keeper is the party who has the vehicle in their possession but is not the registered owner. The owner is responsible for paying public charges; however, if the owner is a financing company, the payment invoice is sent to the keeper.
Process
The owner completes the notification and pays the registration fee.
If a keeper is being added, they must sign the notification electronically. A signature is not required when a keeper is being removed.
The keeper registration is then updated in the vehicle registry.
A prerequisite for registering a keeper is that all public charges have been paid.
