Points for traffic violations

In general

Points are given for traffic violations and are added to a driver's record.

Each violation can result in 1 to 4 points, depending on how serious the offense is.

If you break 2 or more rules at once, the points are added together.

Point expire

Points expire after 3 years. They are removed in the same order as they were added.

Point warning

You will receive a warning if:

• you have a full driver's license and get 8 points in 3 years.

• you have a temporary license and get 3 points in 3years.

Even if you don't get a warning, you can still lose your license once you reach the required number of points.

Lose your driving license

You can lose your license if you get 12 or more points in less than 3 years.
