Scammers often use emails, phone calls and SMS or social media messages to trick people into giving them money. These interactions are frequently disguised as coming from trusted sources, such as companies, banks, well-known individuals, or even the police.

A common tactic is claiming that an account will be closed or data deleted unless you confirm your username and password. Threats of imminent danger are a clear sign of a scam. Never grant anyone remote access to your computer or access to your bank account under these circumstances. These scams are designed to scare people into acting quickly.
