Residence permit for Working Holiday / Youth Mobility
Rights and obligations
A residence permit for Working Holiday / Youth Mobility can be granted for up to one year.
If the holder of the permit stays abroad for more than three consecutive months, the residence permit can be revoked. A foreign national’s residence permit is automatically revoked if his/her domicile, which was registered in Iceland, has been registered abroad for a period of three months.
Right to renewal
Andorran, Canadian, Chilean and UK citizens can renew the permit for up to one year.
Japanese citizens can not renew the permit.
Right to family reunification
The permit does not confer the right to family reunification
Right to work
The permit includes an unlimited work permit, this means that the holder may work and change their employer without applying for a work permit.
Right to permanent residence
The permit is not a basis for a permanent residence permit.
