Driving rights and licences

In the upper left corner is the Icelandic nationality mark, ÍS, black in a black, elliptical ring.

At the top centre is the word "driving licence" printed with black initials.

In the upper right corner the word 'Iceland' is printed in blue initials.

In the centre, left, is the photograph of the licence holder.

In the bottom right corner is a picture of Iceland in blue.

On the front side, the words EEA type and the words "driving licence" are in the languages of the European Economic Area.

In the upper left corner, a special box, marked 13 is left, for foreign authorities to enter information for administration purposes if the licence holder resides in another EEA state.

On the left side, explanations are given on the front of the driving licence under items 2, 1, 3, 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, S, 7 and 9 as well as on the back of the licence under columns 9, 10, 11 and 12.

The left side (between sections 2 and 3) displays a black image of the Icelandic shield. Also, on the basis of the reverse, around the columns 9-12, are the words EEA type and the words "driving licence" in the languages of the European Economic Area.

9. Driving license categories used in Iceland. Driving licence categories are indicated by letters AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B, C1, C, D1, D, BE, C1E, D1E, CE and DE as well as by means of a pictogram. National categories are indicated only in characters, T, and in a different font from uniform categories.

11. Final expiration date for each category.

12. Additional information and, as applicable, conditions and restrictions on the driving licence. The column also includes the large box at the bottom of the reverse of the driving licence below the columns 9-12.
