Temporary Drone Flight Ban over the Old Harbour area in Reykjavik from September 3rd to 7th 2026

The Icelandic Transport Authority (Samgöngustofa) has established a temporary airspace restriction for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS/drones) over the Old Harbour area in Reykjavík due to public security requirements.

Restricted Area (Circle):
Center: 64° 09,17′ N 21° 56,27′ W
Radius: 500 meters (0.27 NM)
Effective period of drone flight ban: September 3, 2026, 00:00 UTC – September 7, 2026, 23:59 UTC
Vertical limits of the drone flight ban: Ground – 122 meters (400 feet above ground level)
All unauthorised drone operations within this circular zone are strictly prohibited during the specified timeframe. The relevant authorities must approve exemptions before operation. Applications for an exemption should be sent to vms@utn.is
Non-compliance may result in fines and legal action.
The restriction has been imposed pursuant to Article 3(d) of Regulation No. 1360/2024.
