During the port state inspection of Vopnafjörður on 22 November on the cargo ship Eystnes, several comments were made regarding the condition of the ship and its equipment, and some serious ones were not made, including the depth gauge on board the ship. The ship was detained under international conventions applying to such equipment.

The ship is flying the flag of Faroese, in its home port of Þórshöfn, built in 1981 and has 4610 bridges. The ship classification society is RINA Services S.p.A. After rectification has been carried out and confirmed by inspection, the detention will be lifted from the ship.
