Rules on the fixed locations of the district courts
The seats of the district courts are as follows:
Reykjavík District Court: The Court is located in the building at Lækjartorg in Reykjavík.
The District Court of West Iceland: The court is located at Bjarnarbraut 8 in Borgarnes.
The District Court of the West Fjords: The court is located at Hafnarstræti 9 in Ísafjörður.
The District Court of Northwest Iceland: The court is located at Skagfirðingabraut 21 in Sauðárkrókur.
The District Court of Northeast Iceland: The court is located at 107 Hafnarstræti in Akureyri.
Héraðsdómur Austurlands: The Court’s location at Lyngás 15 in Egilsstaðir
The District Court of South Iceland: a. Þinghá district that includes the municipalities: Skaftárhreppur, Mýrdalshreppur, Ásahreppur, Flóahreppur, Bláskógabyggð, Rangárþing eystra, Rangárþing ytra, Skeiða- og Gnúpverjahreppur, Hrunamannahreppur, Grímsnes- og Grafningshreppur, Hveragerði, Sveitarfélagið Ölfus and Sveitarfélagið Árborg: The Court is located at Austurvegur 4 in Selfoss. b. Þinghá district that includes the Westman Islands town: At the District Commissioner in the Westman Islands at Heidarvegur 15 in the Westman Islands.
Reykjanes District Court: The court is located at Fjardargata 9 in Hafnarfjörður.
Article 2
These rules are established by the authority in Article 36 of the Law no. 50/2016 on the Courts of Justice.
They come into effect on 1 January 2018.
Thus approved in the Board of the Judical Administration on 11 December 2017.
