Velferðartorg SAk gets 4 and a half stars out of a possible five

The project has been a hit with the staff
Velferðartorg SAk – a resource to accommodate the demanding working environment of staff within SAk – was launched at the beginning of February this year. The project gives SAk staff access to 17 different therapists, including psychologists, massage therapists, nutritionists, physical therapists and family therapists, etc. In addition, the hours can be used for various types of exercise. Velferðatorg is free for SAk employees up to three hours a year.
"Surveys tell us that staff feel the support human resources offer and try to meet their needs even further, although a lot of work has been put into nurturing our staff in the past, this project is simply much more visible than other projects that have been launched," says Erla Björnsdóttir, head of HR.
The aim of Velferðartorg is primarily to support staff, improve work environment, increase job satisfaction and for staff to experience care and support from the employer.
"Most of the staff take advantage of a chiropractor and massage therapist, but also psychologists and 'take care of yourself' yoga classes, which is so important in the integration of mental and physical health," says Erla.
The project has been carried out in good cooperation with the Ministry of Health and we hope to be able to continue with it in the comming year.
