At the stand, it was possible to test the device used in the study, but there was also an opportunity to guess the recommended sleep time of different age groups.

"It is always important to present the researches that are currently ongoing. And this project is very dear to us as it is one of the largest researches that SAk has led. We welcomend a lot of curious people and were able to inform about the first results of the research and then the children were able to solve fun puzzles related to sleep", said Laufey Hrólfsdóttir.

About the study:

Sleep apnea and other sleep problems can have a profound and far-reaching impact on children's health. Sleep problems can contribute to overweight/obesity and the development of certain diseases including cardiovascular disease later in life. Sleep apnea in children has generally not been studied much, and almost none in this country.

The study is a cross-sectional study and the participants are 4-9 year old children in Akureyri. SleepImage technology is used and sleep is measured for 5 nights.
