7th May 2024
“We do so much, much more”
The Department of Education and Science at the Hospital in Akureyri is organizing an ambitious program in celebration of the Day of Nursing. The Day of Nursing is May 12, but since the day marks the beginning of the year on Sunday, the program is being held on Wednesday, May 8 between 8:30 and 16 in Kjarni – meeting room on the 2nd floor of SAk. The event will also be streamed. After the programs, coffee and light refreshments will be offered in the military quarters and teaching facilities of the Department of Education and Science on the 3rd floor.
The programme is titled “We do so much, much more” and has a reference to the many special projects that nurses in their wards carry out in their clinical work. To mark the day, some of these important projects will be presented.
“We want to focus on welcoming new nurses to SAk even more effectively, so the First year in the field project will be presented to all nurses who begin working at the Akureyri Hospital. The program focuses on promoting the work of nurses in the wake of the formal guidance year for specialist recognition or special nursing training at SAk,” says Hrafnhildur Lilja Jónsdóttir, nurse specialist and head of education at the department of education and science. Today, eight nurses work in different wards at SAk, as well as three nurses are in special nursing training at SAk.
The “We do so much, so much more” programme for the day of nursing is open to all and also streaming.
