SAk's Chief Epidemiologist at a Finnish infection prevention conference

18th March 2024

It is important to have a conversation about good infection prevention.

Infection control officers in Helsinki

In February Infection Control Manager Rut Guðbrandsdóttir was invited to a meeting in Finland by Flowmedik, where she was joined by infection prevention officers from Helsinki, Hong Kong, Latvia, Poland and Finland, and staff at the infection prevention unit at LSH.

The meeting is the start of a regular flow of information between the representatives of these countries regarding infection prevention. The team visited the infection prevention ward at Helsinki University Hospital, which employs more than 20 specialist infection prevention nurses.

Online meetings are planned every 6 months.

“I look forward to the collaboration, as it is always good to get the motivation to do even better. Overall, I can still say that SAk is doing very well in comparison to Latvia and Poland, but we still have work to do to catch up with Finland. Therefore, this forum is perfect and valuable resource to have access to a team as strong as the one in Helsinki to achieve our goals,” says Rut.
