From February 11 to 14, a comprehensive external audit of all operations at Akureyri Hospital (SAk) was conducted, known as the DNV audit. This was a full-scale audit, performed every three years, with smaller audits focusing on specific areas of operations carried out in between.

From February 11 to 14, a comprehensive external audit of all operations at Akureyri Hospital (SAk) was conducted, known as the DNV audit. This was a full-scale audit, performed every three years, with smaller audits focusing on specific areas of operations carried out in between.

SAk Meets Standards with Distinction

SAk successfully met all requirements of two international standards, the DNV HealthCare Accreditation and the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, which were reviewed during the audit. The audit identified 17 minor remarks, five opportunities for improvement, and three suggestions. These findings help us remain vigilant and continuously seek ways to improve.

Why External Audits?

Many wonder why SAk chooses to engage external parties to audit its operations. The answer is simple: the aim of quality work is to enhance the safety of both patients and staff. Internal audits, external audits like the DNV audit, and the review of incidents and serious events together form a vital continuity in SAk's quality management efforts. This continuity enables the hospital to detect and correct system errors and other risk factors that might otherwise be overlooked in daily operations. In this way, we ensure continuous progress and improved safety for everyone involved in our work.
