Presentation of the diverse jobs of nurses and occupational therapists at SAk
21st November 2023
Last week, a presentation was made on the jobs of nurses and occupational therapists, and the presentation was held at the University of Akureyri. The presentation was open to 3rd year nursing students as well as occupational therapy students.
During the presentation, Erla Salome Ólafsdóttir, a nursing student, spoke about her internship at SAk last summer. Erla's recruitment process was very good. She had meetings with department heads and she received good support from the human resources department. Ásta Guðrún Eydal, a nurse in the intensive care unit, spoke about her work in the unit and how she felt during the first days on the job. She had special words about how well she had been received as a newly graduated nurse. Finally, Kristín Brynja Árnadóttir, occupational therapist at Kristnesspítali, spoke about the varied and interesting work of occupational therapists at the Kristnes hospital, where the hospital's rehabilitation and geriatrics are carried out.
About 50 interested students in health sciences attended the presentation. It ended with a good review by Kristjana Kristjánsdóttir, head of the human resources department and human resources consultant about diverse jobs at the hospital, the conditions of nurses and occupational therapists at SAk as well as the opportunities available to nurses and occupational therapists at the Akureyri Hospital.
