New linkage ready for annual meeting

New multifunctional meeting rooms, work facilities and improved facilities for the simulation learning center.
The final touches are being made to a new connector that connects the A, C and D buildings of the Akureyri Hospital. The work began in 2022 and the construction officer has taken the building out.
The access hall will be equipped with a new and improved simulation learning center, a new elegant meeting room, working facilities and smaller meeting spaces. The route from the maternity ward to the surgery ward and the pediatric ward will be much more convenient and the safety of the emergency caesarean section will be much greater.
“We have made every effort to have the connection corridor ready for the annual meeting on Friday 24 May. The meeting rooms have been equipped with modern technology and a new and improved simulation learning center has been installed,” says the managing director of operations and clinical support services, Konráð Gylfason.
The new housing committee is fully committed to deciding which units will be moved into the work spaces in the new hall alongside the Faculty of Education and Science. “The big snowball will start to roll as soon as we move people in and we want to get make sure to take the rights steps regarding next constructions projects in the building,” says Konráð, who is also a member of the housing committee.
“We look forward to welcoming people here for the annual meeting, which will take place on Friday 24 May at 14 pm. Then people will be able to see the location. We will also sign an agreement on the design of a new building. So it’s bright ahead for SAk,” says Hildigunnur Svavarsdóttir, CEO of SAk.
