New Incubator for the Pediatric Ward at SAk

The Beneficiaries brought a valuable gift.
The Pediatric Ward of the Akureyri Hospital (SAk) has received a new state-of-the-art Babyleo incubator from Dräger. This new incubator replaces an older model that had become outdated and for which spare parts were no longer available.
The new incubator is both user-friendly and easy to operate, making it an excellent addition for neonatal intensive care at the ward. The unit cares for sick newborns and premature babies born after 34 weeks of pregnancy, for whom incubators are a crucial part of treatment.
Each year, about 40–60 infants are admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit, and nearly all require initial treatment in an incubator. This often occurs immediately after birth or within the first few days of life.
The generosity of the Beneficiaries has ensured that the Pediatric Ward now has this essential new equipment, which will improve the care and comfort of the newborns.
“Receiving such gifts from the Beneficiaries is extraordinary, and we are very grateful,” says Aðalheiður Guðmundsdóttir, Head of the Pediatric Ward.
