The appointment is temporary for one year, and Hussam will work at the hospital for periods of 2–3 weeks at a time.

ussam is a board-certified cardiologist with expertise in cardiovascular diseases, with a particular focus on ischemic heart disease. He graduated from the University of Southern Denmark witha medical degree in 2007 and obtained a PhD from the same university in 2022. His doctoral research focused on cardiovascular diseases, and he has published numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed international journals. He has completed specialist training in cardiology and has worked as a consultant cardiologist in Denmark, including at Odense University Hospital.

In addition, he has extensive clinical experience from emergency and internal medicine departments, intensive care units, and primary care, both in Denmark and Norway. Alongside his clinical work, Hussam has been actively involved in extensive research in the field of cardiovascular diseases, participated in clinical trials, and taught medicine for many years. In recent years, he has also worked within the pharmaceutical industry, including as Global Medical Manager at Novo Nordisk, with a focus on cardiovascular diseases.
