Friends of the hospital donate funds to the Department of Internal Medicine in memory of Sólveig Hulda Valgeirsdóttir

Representatives of the Friends of the Hospital visited the Department of Internal Medicine today and presented the staff with a bouquet of flowers and a message of sympathy following the passing of Sólveig Hulda Valgeirsdóttir, former head of the department.
Rebekka Héðinsdóttir, head of int.med, Bjarni Jónsson, Hermann Haraldsson and Jóhannes G. Bjarnason, representatives of the Friends; and Heiða Berglind Magnúsdóttir, assistant head of int.medicine
The Friends will also donate to the Department of Internal Medicine the funds that staff members of the department collected in Sólveig’s name, in addition to the funds raised through the sale of memorial cards. Furthermore, the Friends will present the department with a contribution of ISK 1 million.
“We are extremely grateful to the Friends for this donation and for the warmth and support that they, along with the entire community, have shown us during these difficult times,” says Rebekka Héðinsdóttir, head of the Department of Internal Medicine.
“The passing of Sólveig is truly a devastating loss for her family, friends, colleagues and our small community. In the Friends of the Hospital, we wanted, in our own small way, to contribute support to the Department of Internal Medicine, which is certainly a service that must be safeguarded,” says Jóhannes G. Bjarnason, chair of the Friends of the Hospital.
