“It was a pleasant surprise to see how many visitors came to see us on this occasion. Our new TMS device naturally attracted a lot of interest, as it can have an enormously positive effect in the treatment of severe depression. Our therapy dog, Atlas, was also a great hit among the guests, and quite a few took the time to play with him for a bit. We also had valuable opportunities for conversations about our role and activities, and it is truly rewarding to feel the strong support we receive for our work throughout the community,” says Gestur Guðrúnarson, head of the psychiatric day and outpatient unit at Akureyri Hospital.
