Conclusion of the design procedure for the expansion of SAk - Verkís Group with the highest score

New Landspítali (NLSH) has published the results of the design tender I2081 for a new building for the outpatient ward of the Akureyri Hospital (SAk). The new building for outpatient wardswill include the surgical and internal medicine ward and wards for psychiatric wards at the current premises of Sak. It is assumed that a new building of approximately 9,200 m2 will be located south of the existing buildings and related older buildings.

The Verkís group's proposal for the extension of SAk

The selection process was held at the end of the year and five design teams advanced. The selection model of the closed tender was two-part. The quality of the proposal was 60% and the bid price of the design team was 40% of the total score according to the rules of the tender. A committee was appointed to review the quality part, which included Kristján Þór Júlíusson as chair, Ásthildur Sturludóttir, Helgi Davíð Ingason, Hildigunnur Svavarsdóttir and Lilja Stefánsdóttir. The NLSH estimate of design costs was ISK 779.5 million without tax.

The highest total score from both assessments, 92.99, was awarded to Verkís group, which includes TBL arkitektar, JCA Ltd. and Brekke & Strand. The group has a cost proposition of ISK 753.5 million, or 97% of the cost estimate.

The NLSH has presented the results to the tenderers and the project will now continue to be carried out in accordance with the law no. 120/2016 on public procurement and the law no. 84/2001 on the structure of public works. It is assumed that the practical work can begin with the construction of a tunnel in 2025.

This May, an invitation to tender will be opened by NLSH for the practical works at the University of Iceland Faculty of Health's building on Hringbraut and the expansion of the rehabilitation department at the Landspítali University Hospital on Grensás.
