The Cancer Society of Akureyri and Surrounding Areas (KAON) has donated three new CADD infusion pumps to the home care services of the Akureyri Hospital (SAk).

Representatives of SAk and KAON: Valgerður, Dóra, Auðbjörg, Þórdís, Pétur, Hafdís, Arnar, Rannveig, Hrefna, Kristín, Jósefína and Guðmunda.
CADD infusion pumps are small, battery-operated devices used to administer medication continuously or as needed over a specified period of time. They are primarily used in pain management where accurate and continuous medication delivery is required.
“Home care services use infusion pumps in palliative and end-of-life care provided in patients’ homes, giving individuals and their families the opportunity to remain at home during treatment,” say nurses working in home care services. “This plays an important role in symptom management and greatly improves the quality of life of both patients and their families during this sensitive time, while also increasing safety and continuity of care.”
For many years, KAON has contributed to strengthening services for patients and their families. The organization provides a wide range of support services for people diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones.
