Ásgeir Örn Jónsson appointed Head of Emergency Medicine

Ásgeir Örn Jónsson, a specialist in emergency medicine, has been appointed Head of Emergency Medicine at Akureyri Hospital.

Ásgeir graduated with a medical degree from the University of Debrecen in Hungary. He brings extensive clinical experience, having worked at primary healthcare centres in the Capital Region, Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Akranes, Höfn and Akureyri. He has also worked at Landspítali – The National University Hospital of Iceland and at Skåne University Hospital in Lund, Sweden.

"It is a great honour to have the opportunity to lead the Emergency Medicine Department at Akureyri Hospital. I look forward to taking on this exciting and challenging role and to working with the outstanding team that provides emergency care. Emergency medicine relies on strong collaboration, professionalism and continuous development, and my goal is to contribute to further strengthening our services, fostering a positive working environment, and ensuring that our patients receive safe, high-quality care," says Ásgeir.
