The total number of hospital bed days from January to October was 21,768, a decrease of about 14% from last year, along with an 11% reduction in patient admissions. The average length of stay across all wards is 4.4 days, indicating significantly shorter stays than before.
The majority of patients are admitted as emergency cases, accounting for about 76.5% of all admissions.
On average, around 10 patients at any given time are either receiving or awaiting an assessment of their ability and health status.
When looking at bed utilization rates, the Internal Medicine Ward maintains an 85% occupancy rate across both internal and surgical wards.
Over 9,400 individuals have received outpatient services, with 1,934 receiving chemotherapy treatments, compared to 1,876 at the same time last year, showing a steady increase in this service.
At the ER and Outpatient Ward, the number of interactions is comparable to last year, with 14,910 visits compared to 15,116 during the same period last year. The current wait time to see a doctor in the ER is about 45 minutes, compared to our target of 40 minutes.
The number of surgeries from January to October totaled 1,995, slightly down from 2,186 in the same period last year. However, the number alone doesn’t tell the full story, as the complexity and duration of procedures play a large role. About 33% of surgeries were emergencies, with 258 joint replacements compared to 273 last year.
Imaging studies (excluding mammograms) numbered over 34,000, averaging around 112 studies per day, which is consistent with previous years.
Lab testing has seen a slight decline in recent years, while the number of physiological studies remains similar, at about 6,500.
This year, 327 babies were born, compared to 350 at the same time last year.
There has been a significant decrease in visits and admissions for uninsured individuals compared to the same period last year. The ER has treated 650 uninsured individuals, with 100 admitted to inpatient wards at SAk. Last year, 117 individuals were admitted, and about 730 sought emergency services. This represents a 12% decrease in emergency wards visits.
