A gift from the Cancer Society in Akureyri

The Cancer Society in Akureyri (KAON) recently donated so-called pain mattresses to the internal medicine ward at the Akureyri Hospital. They are specially designed for patients with pain, but also prove to be effective as bed sore protection.
"Until now, we have had to prioritize those who need these mattresses the most, as we didn't have enough - now it will be easier for us," says Ester Þóra Bragadóttir, head of the internal medicine ward.
The Cancer Society in Akureyri is very keen to support cancer patients, and together with the SAk staff, it was realized that the pain mattresses were the most urgent. Furthermore, the association is keen to support palliative care at the hospital.
About a year ago, KAON also supported SAk's general outpatient department with the purchase of a screen that hangs in the waiting room and displays content that is useful for cancer patients and their relatives.
