Children and adolescents
The children's ward has an inpatient ward, a day ward and an outpatient ward. The department is located on the 3rd floor in the D-wing and is accessed through entrance D. Outside of working hours, the entrance is locked, but you can use the door phone.
The inpatient ward serves children and young people up to and including 17 years of age who require hospitalization due to illness and accidents. It is open 24 hours a day, throughout the year. The department has intensive care units for newborns.
SAk's children's ward is the only children's ward outside Iceland's capital area. Close relatives stay with the child, others my visit in exceptional cases and in consultation with departmental staff.
In the day- and outpatient ward, pediatricians and nurses diagnose, treat- and follow-up regarding chronic diseases, according to referral from healthcare.
