The role of the police

Working in the police force means having the opportunity to create greater security in people’s lives. The police force’s role is to:

  • public security and ensure legal certainty,

  • to curb crime and to work to detect offences,

  • paying the streets,

  • to assist the authorities in the performance of their duties and in maintaining public peace and public order.

The police assist citizens in enforcing the law with information and good advice. In their work, the police are therefore responsible to the public and authorities.
