Security Department

The Security Department's main objective is to strengthen the security of the highest government of the state and prevent incidents that could threaten the security of employees of public offices, courts, ministries and their activities.

Special operations unit

The unit is a mobile police force that is specially trained to deal with armed police work and security issues, including terrorism and large-scale violent crimes.

The special unit:

  • assists the police forces,

  • carries out arrests of dangerous offenders and operations related to drug cases,

  • carries out diving missions for investigations,

  • support sfor the Civil Defense Department when an emergency arises.

The special unit plays an important role in preventing terrorism, such as attacks, bombings, hostage-taking, hijackings and piracy. The special unit is thus responsible for operations related to terrorist preparedness at sea and on land.

The unit is responsible for hostage negotiations, bomb preparedness, and security when needed, such as during foreign visits. The unit also employs bomb experts and bomb-sniffing dogs.
