Changes fees from 1st September 2026

22nd July 2026

Iceland Health draws attention to the fact that on September 1st, a regulation on changes to health care admission fees will come into force.

The grounds for the changes can be read here: Government Office | Changes to arrival fees

Health clinic fees during daytime hours

  • The entry fee for the general health insured will be ISK 1,000 (previously ISK 500)

  • The entry fee also applies to psychological services, cervical screenings and chest X-rays for cancer screening

  • The elderly, the disabled and children do not pay an entry fee

Arrival fee for health care outside daytime hours

  • The entry fee for the general health insured will be ISK 3,500 (previously ISK 3,100)

  • The elderly, the disabled and children do not pay an entry fee

Fee for a doctor's visit during daytime hours

  • General health insurance ISK 3,800 (previously ISK 3,400)

  • The elderly, the disabled and children pay no fee

Fee for visits by a doctor outside daytime hours

  • General health insurance ISK 5,000 (previously ISK 4,500)

  • The elderly, the disabled and children pay no fee

Arrival fee for ambulance services at the scene

  • The arrival fee for ambulance services located at the scene is subject to the same rules as the arrival fee at health care centres. This applies, for example, to ambulances that are stationed at the scene due to distance to the nearest health care center and at occasional outdoor festivals

  • The fee for ambulance transport will remain unchanged

The arrival fee falls within the co-payment system of health services, but here you can find more information about the co-payment system.

Special arrival fee for physio, occupational and speech therapy

A special arrival fee will be introduced for therapies, which will be in addition to the fee according to the co-payment system.

  • General health insurance 1.500 kr.

  • Elderly 1.000 kr.

  • Disabled 500 kr.

  • No entry fee will be charged to those under 18 years old

Please note that the special arrival fee for therapy is unrelated to the co-payment system of health services and therefore always the same, regardless of the number of visits.
