Three HSN Projects Nominated for the 2025 Public Sector Innovation Awards

20th May 2025

Innovation plays a major role in the operations of the Healthcare Institution of North Iceland (HSN), where deliberate efforts are made to improve services, streamline processes, and create a positive and effective work environment. It is therefore gratifying that three of the institution’s projects have been nominated for the 2025 Public Sector Innovation Awards.

The nominations reflect the breadth of HSN’s innovation work, encompassing both technological development and human resources:

  • Advancements in Digital Transformation:
HSN has implemented numerous digital solutions that utilize automation to simplify workflows and enhance services. This has improved efficiency and access to healthcare services.

  • Implementation of Team-Based Work in Primary Care:
Team-based work has been in the process of implementation since early 2023, aiming to strengthen collaboration among healthcare professionals and provide more comprehensive services to users. The goal is to complete the implementation by the end of 2025, at which point effective and interdisciplinary teamwork will be a permanent part of operations.

  • Workplace Wellbeing:
This project aims to improve staff wellbeing through dialogue between management and employees and is divided into six parts. The ultimate goal is to enhance workplace wellbeing and reduce work-related illnesses.

Although HSN did not receive the award this time, receiving three nominations is a significant recognition, demonstrating that the institution’s progressive and ambitious work is noteworthy and yielding results.

We celebrate this recognition and continue to develop and improve public services with innovation and effective communication as guiding principles.
