Grant Awarded to the Children’s Mental Health Team at HSN
8th July 2026
The Children’s Psychosocial Services at HSN have received a generous donation from the Lions Club Ylfa, which will greatly benefit services provided to children and adolescents.

The donation consists of sensory stimulation products and fidget toys that are useful for people of all ages and are particularly beneficial for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and autism. The products are also well suited for those experiencing sensory processing difficulties or anxiety, as well as individuals who need help improving concentration or managing stress and restlessness. The Lions Club Ylfa formally presented the donation to HSN’s Children’s Mental Health Team at a ceremony held on 29 June.

“We are extremely grateful to the Lions Club Ylfa for the support represented by this generous donation. These sensory stimulation products will undoubtedly enhance our services and assist our clients in their treatment and recovery,” says Alice Harpa Björgvinsdóttir, Director of Psychosocial Services at HSN in Akureyri.
“Products such as these can help with emotional regulation, managing emotions, and developing greater self-control and calmness. A large proportion of our service users face the challenges mentioned above, and we have seen firsthand how these products can be beneficial in treatment—not only for the children themselves but also for their families,” says Team Leader María Bjarnadóttir.
Donations of this kind are an important addition to primary healthcare services and a clear example of strong collaboration with the local community. The support provided by the Lions Club Ylfa enables the institution to continue improving services for this important group of children and young people.
